Dynamic Gearbox Oil Servicing Now Available at Meadowfield

We're continuing to expand what we can do here at Meadowfield Auto Centre, and from 10 July 2026 we're now offering dynamic gearbox oil servicing.

Modern automatic transmissions are sophisticated pieces of engineering, and the oil inside them plays an important role in lubrication, cooling and the operation of the gearbox.

Like other fluids in a vehicle, transmission oil doesn't remain in perfect condition forever.

Our new dynamic gearbox servicing capability allows us to provide a more comprehensive transmission oil service for a range of automatic gearboxes here at our workshop in Ponteland, Northumberland.

What is a dynamic gearbox oil service?

A conventional gearbox oil change normally involves draining the oil that can leave the transmission through its drain point and replacing it with fresh fluid.

However, depending on the gearbox design, a proportion of the old oil can remain within components such as the torque converter, oil cooler and transmission pipework.

A dynamic gearbox oil service uses specialist equipment to exchange substantially more of the transmission fluid in a controlled process.

The correct procedure varies considerably between transmissions, so identifying the gearbox type, correct fluid specification and manufacturer service requirements is an important part of the job.

DSG, ZF, Aisin, Mercedes and other automatic transmissions

There's no single automatic gearbox used across modern cars.

Depending on the vehicle, we may encounter dual-clutch transmissions such as DSG, conventional torque-converter automatics and transmissions manufactured by companies including ZF and Aisin, as well as manufacturer-specific applications.

That's why we don't treat automatic gearbox servicing as a generic oil change.

Before carrying out the work, we'll identify the transmission fitted to the vehicle and establish the appropriate servicing procedure, oil specification and requirements for that particular gearbox.

Another service brought into Meadowfield

Adding dynamic gearbox oil servicing is another step in the continuing development of our independent workshop.

Since Meadowfield Auto Centre opened in 2017, we've continued investing in equipment and services that allow us to look after a broader range of modern vehicles locally.

From MOT testing, tyres and routine servicing through to diagnostics, clutches, timing belts and chains and increasingly complex vehicle maintenance, our aim is to provide as much as we reasonably can here in Ponteland.

Where a job requires equipment or manufacturer-level capability we don't have, we'll say so.

Where it makes sense for us to invest and bring that capability into Meadowfield, that's exactly what we'll continue to do.
