Meadowfield Auto Centre is an independent garage in Ponteland, Northumberland.
Ponteland isn't simply where our business is located.
It's where our story began, where many of our customers live and work, and a community we're proud to be part of.
Since Meadowfield Auto Centre was established in 2016, we've tried to support local organisations, charities and community events whenever we can.
Sometimes that's through fundraising.
Sometimes it's sponsorship or practical support.
Sometimes it's simply getting involved.
For us, being an independent local business means being part of the community around it.
Our roots are here
Meadowfield's connection with Ponteland goes back further than the business itself.
Owner Stephen Browne grew up and went to school in Ponteland, and his first experience of the motor trade came through school work experience at the garage that would eventually become Meadowfield Auto Centre.
Years later, he returned to take ownership of the business and established Meadowfield in December 2016.
That makes supporting Ponteland particularly important to us.
This is our home as well as our place of business.
Supporting Ponteland United
One of the organisations we've been proud to support is Ponteland United, helping support grassroots football and young players within our local community.
In 2026, as Meadowfield approached its 10th anniversary, we produced special anniversary keyrings with proceeds supporting Ponteland United's youth teams.
It was a simple way of marking an important milestone for Meadowfield while giving something back locally at the same time.
For us, that's exactly the sort of relationship a local independent business should have with its community.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
In September 2026, Meadowfield hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning at our garage in Ponteland.
Customers, friends and members of the local community joined us for coffee and cake, helping us raise more than £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event was also kindly supported by Waitrose Ponteland, who helped make sure there was plenty of cake to go around.
It was a brilliant example of what can happen when local businesses and local people come together behind a good cause.
And, admittedly, not a bad excuse to fill the reception with cake.
Ponteland Duck Race
Our involvement in the community goes back to Meadowfield's earliest years.
Meadowfield took part in the Ponteland Duck Race in both 2017 and 2018, supporting one of the town's established community events.
Those early events form part of the history of the business we're now documenting as Meadowfield approaches and passes its first decade.
The garage has changed considerably since then.
Our connection with Ponteland hasn't.
Supporting causes that matter
Over the years, Meadowfield has supported and highlighted a range of charitable causes.
Some have been national campaigns.
Others have had a much closer connection to people within Meadowfield and our customers.
We don't believe every act of support needs a huge campaign behind it.
Sometimes simply using the platform we have as a local business can help raise awareness, start a conversation or generate some additional support for a worthwhile cause.
That's something we'll continue to do.
Working with other local businesses
Community isn't only about fundraising.
It's also about local businesses supporting one another.
Over the years, Meadowfield has worked with and received support from other businesses in and around Ponteland.
From Waitrose Ponteland supporting our Macmillan Coffee Morning to relationships formed through local events and organisations, we're pleased to be one of many independent and local businesses serving the area.
When local businesses support each other, more of that value stays within the community.
Preserving a little of Ponteland's motoring history
Our connection with Ponteland isn't limited to the present day either.
Stephen has researched and documented the history of motoring in the area through Ponteland and the Motor Car – A Pictorial History.
The book brings together photographs and stories exploring the relationship between Ponteland and the motor car, preserving a small part of the area's local history.
It is now available to read free through the Meadowfield Auto Centre website.
For a garage whose own story began in Ponteland, it seemed appropriate to help preserve some of the motoring history that came before us.
Ten years in the community
December 2026 marks ten years of Meadowfield Auto Centre.
During that time, we've watched the business grow, the automotive industry change and our team develop.
But we've remained in the same community where the Meadowfield story started.
That's important to us.
Our customers have supported Meadowfield for a decade.
Supporting the community around us is one way we can return some of that support.
More than somewhere we work
We're proud when Meadowfield receives national automotive industry recognition.
We're proud when our technicians complete another qualification.
We're proud when we introduce another service or make another improvement to the garage.
But we're equally proud that all of it happens here.
In Ponteland.
Meadowfield Auto Centre is a local independent business serving Ponteland and the surrounding Northumberland community.
That's something we never want to lose as the business develops.
We'll continue supporting local events, organisations and causes where we can.
Because Ponteland isn't simply where you'll find Meadowfield Auto Centre.
It's where we belong.
