Meadowfield Raises Over £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support

What a morning!

On Friday 25 September 2026, we swapped some of the usual activity at Meadowfield Auto Centre for coffee, cake and a very good cause as we hosted our Macmillan Coffee Morning here in Ponteland.

Customers, friends and members of the local community joined us throughout the morning, helping us raise more than £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

We met some lovely people, drank plenty of coffee and, admittedly, ate a fair amount of cake along the way.

And we couldn't be happier with the result.

Over £250 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support

The idea was simple.

Open the doors, put the kettle on, fill the reception with cake and invite people to join us in supporting the work of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Thanks to everyone who came along and donated, those coffees and slices of cake added up to more than £250 raised for Macmillan.

For a small independent garage in Ponteland, we're incredibly pleased with that.

Every person who stopped by, bought some cake, had a coffee, made a donation or simply helped spread the word contributed to the final total.

A little help from Waitrose Ponteland

We also owe a big thank you to our neighbours at Waitrose Ponteland, who kindly supported our Macmillan Coffee Morning and supplied some of the delicious cake enjoyed during the day.

Local businesses supporting each other and helping a national charity at the same time is exactly the sort of community spirit we hoped the morning would create.

And judging by how quickly some of the cakes disappeared, they went down rather well too.

More than just cars

Most days at Meadowfield are understandably about cars.

There are MOTs being carried out, vehicles being serviced, tyres being fitted, diagnostics being completed and repairs making their way through the workshop.

But Meadowfield Auto Centre has been part of the Ponteland community for almost ten years, and occasionally it's nice to use our premises for something completely different.

We've supported local events, grassroots sport and community organisations over the years, and our Macmillan Coffee Morning gave us another opportunity to bring people together at the garage.

One of the nicest parts of the morning was simply meeting people.

Some were familiar faces. Others weren't.

For a few hours, reception became less about collecting keys and paying invoices and more about having a coffee, eating some cake and having a chat.

We rather liked it.
