Meadowfield Auto Centre in Ponteland is proud to be part of the 1TEC Auto Hub network, a nationwide network of progressive independent garages supported by leading organisations and technical brands from across the automotive industry.
For Meadowfield, becoming part of 1TEC represents another step in the continued development of our independent garage.
It strengthens our connection with automotive technical expertise, training and some of the industry's leading manufacturers and brands — while allowing Meadowfield to remain exactly what we've always been:
Independent. Local. Meadowfield.
What is 1TEC Auto Hub?
1TEC Auto Hub is a UK network for independent garages, developed by LKQ Euro Car Parts and supported by leading automotive brands covering key areas of modern vehicle maintenance and repair.
The network brings together independent workshops that are committed to developing their technical knowledge and preparing for the changing demands of modern vehicles.
That's important.
Because the vehicles arriving in independent garages today are very different from those of even a decade ago.
Advanced electronics.
Complex emissions systems.
Start-stop technology.
Wet timing belts.
Increasingly sophisticated automatic and dual-clutch transmissions.
Hybrid and electric powertrains.
Modern vehicle maintenance requires more than simply having the right tools.
It requires the right knowledge.
That's one of the reasons 1TEC was a natural fit for Meadowfield.
Still independent
One of the most important things for our customers to understand is that Meadowfield remains independently owned and operated.
Joining 1TEC hasn't changed that.
We still decide how Meadowfield operates.
We still choose the standards we expect.
And our customers still deal with the same independent garage in Ponteland.
What 1TEC adds is a connection to a wider automotive technical network.
For us, that's the best of both worlds.
Still independent. Still Meadowfield. Just stronger.
Supported by leading automotive brands
One of the things that attracted Meadowfield to 1TEC is the calibre of the organisations associated with the network.
The 1TEC technical partner ecosystem includes recognised names from across the automotive aftermarket:
Shell
A globally recognised lubricant manufacturer, with Shell Helix engine oils covering the increasingly specific lubrication requirements of modern petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles.
For Meadowfield, that reinforces something we've believed for a long time:
The correct oil specification matters.
MPM Oil
MPM Oil specialises in application-specific lubricants and vehicle fluids, covering engine oils, transmission fluids, coolants and other increasingly specialised vehicle applications.
That expertise is particularly relevant as vehicle manufacturers require more specific fluids across engines and transmissions.
VARTA
VARTA is one of the best-known names in automotive battery technology, including conventional batteries and AGM and EFB technology used extensively in vehicles equipped with start-stop and increasingly complex electrical systems.
Pagid
Pagid is a recognised braking brand associated with TMD Friction, one of the major names in automotive friction technology.
Braking is safety-critical.
For us, quality matters.
Schaeffler
Schaeffler brings together several major automotive technology brands particularly relevant to the work carried out by independent garages:
- LuK — clutch and transmission technology
- INA — timing and engine systems
- FAG — wheel bearing and chassis technology
Schaeffler and its REPXPERT technical resources have also played an important role in technician development across areas including DSG transmissions and timing drive technology.
ZF Aftermarket
ZF is one of the world's major automotive technology and transmission manufacturers.
Its technology can be found across a huge range of modern vehicles, including the widely used ZF 6HP and ZF 8HP automatic transmissions.
That makes ZF particularly relevant to Meadowfield's continued development in automatic gearbox servicing.
Valeo
Valeo develops and manufactures technology across numerous vehicle systems, including transmission, thermal management, electrical systems, lighting and increasingly electrified vehicle technology.
Its breadth reflects just how interconnected modern vehicles have become.
Technical knowledge matters
There's a common thread running through all of these organisations.
Technical knowledge.
Modern vehicle repair isn't simply about replacing components.
A modern vehicle can require specific oils, specialist fluids, electronic procedures, diagnostic knowledge and an understanding of how multiple systems interact.
That's why continued technician development has become such an important part of Meadowfield.
Our team has undertaken training covering areas including:
- Vehicle diagnostics
- Vehicle inspection
- MOT testing
- ABS and chassis control systems
- AdBlue and SCR systems
- Timing drive technology
- Wet timing belts
- DSG and double-clutch transmissions
- Hybrid and electric vehicles
That development began long before Meadowfield joined 1TEC and continues as vehicle technology evolves.
Supporting the services our customers need
Ultimately, our membership of 1TEC only matters if it contributes to what we can offer our customers.
The technical areas represented within the network closely align with services Meadowfield provides from our workshop in Ponteland.
Wet Belt Replacement
Belt-in-oil or wet timing belt systems require particular attention to correct servicing, oil specification and repair procedures.
Our relationships with organisations including INA, MPM Oil and Shell reinforce the technical knowledge surrounding these increasingly common engine systems.
DSG & Automatic Gearbox Servicing
Modern automatic transmissions aren't all the same.
DSG and dual-clutch systems differ considerably from conventional torque-converter automatics, and individual transmissions can have very specific servicing requirements.
Our technical connections with ZF, LuK/Schaeffler and MPM Oil complement Meadowfield's development in automatic gearbox servicing.
Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Servicing
Hybrid and electric vehicles are changing the work carried out by independent garages.
But they still require tyres, brakes, suspension, cooling systems, air conditioning, low-voltage electrical systems, inspections and routine maintenance.
Meadowfield continues to develop its knowledge and capability for hybrid and electric vehicle servicing in Ponteland, supported by ongoing technician training and access to expertise across the wider automotive industry.
Vehicle Diagnostics
As vehicles become increasingly electronically controlled, proper diagnosis becomes more important.
Our philosophy remains simple:
Diagnose. Don't guess.
Training and technical information help our technicians understand the system behind a fault rather than simply reacting to a fault code.
Prepared for the future
1TEC describes itself as a garage network prepared for the future.
That's a philosophy that fits Meadowfield particularly well.
When Stephen established Meadowfield Auto Centre in 2016, the vehicles entering the workshop were already changing rapidly.
That hasn't stopped.
Electrification, advanced transmissions, emissions technology, increasingly sophisticated electronics and more demanding manufacturer specifications continue to change what is required of an independent garage.
Our response is to keep learning.
Keep investing.
And keep developing.
Raise standards year after year.
Award winners joining an award-winning network
Meadowfield didn't join 1TEC to become an award-winning garage.
We joined 1TEC as one.
Before becoming part of the network, Meadowfield had already accumulated recognition from across the UK automotive industry, including:

1TEC itself has also received automotive industry recognition, including being named Garage Concept of the Year at the CAT Awards 2026.
For us, there's a natural alignment.
A progressive independent garage joining a network built around the future of the independent automotive aftermarket.
Why does 1TEC matter to a Meadowfield customer?
Actually, the answer is quite simple.
Knowledge. Quality. Development.
Our customers don't need to understand everything happening behind the scenes in the automotive industry.
They just need confidence that the garage looking after their vehicle is keeping pace with it.
That's what matters to us.
Meadowfield remains the same independently owned garage our customers know in Ponteland, Northumberland.
But we're continuing to strengthen the knowledge and relationships behind it.
Independent. Local. Prepared for the future.
Joining 1TEC represents another stage in Meadowfield's development.
Not a change in who we are.
A continuation of where we've been heading since 2016.
Still independent.
Still Meadowfield.
Just stronger.
