Investing in a New MOT Lift at Meadowfield Auto Centre
A major workshop investment gives our Ponteland MOT station the capacity to safely accommodate larger modern vehicles.

There's some fairly major work taking place at Meadowfield Auto Centre this month – and for good reason.
We've invested in a new, wider MOT lift for our workshop on Meadowfield Industrial Estate in Ponteland.
Our existing MOT equipment had served the garage well, but vehicles have changed. Larger SUVs and 4x4s are increasingly common on the roads around Ponteland, and the dimensions of the existing lift meant it was no longer suitable for some of the larger modern vehicles our customers were bringing to us.
Vehicles such as Range Rovers and other larger SUVs highlighted the limitations of the old equipment.
Rather than allowing that to restrict the vehicles we're able to look after, we've decided to invest.
A bigger MOT lift for modern vehicles
The replacement MOT lift is wider, giving us the space required to safely accommodate a broader range of modern cars and SUVs.
That means Meadowfield can continue providing MOT testing in Ponteland for customers driving everything from smaller cars and family hatchbacks to larger vehicles and 4x4s.
Installing it, however, isn't simply a matter of swapping one lift for another.
As the photograph from 22 June 2019 shows, significant groundwork has been required inside the workshop, including breaking out the existing concrete and excavating new foundations for the equipment.
It's a considerable undertaking – and temporarily a rather messy one.
We'd also like to apologise to our neighbours and local residents for any noise while the excavation work is taking place.
Investing in our Ponteland workshop
The new MOT lift forms part of the continuing investment we're making at Meadowfield Auto Centre.
When Meadowfield opened under its new name in January 2017, we wanted to build a garage capable of adapting as both our customers and their vehicles changed.
Only weeks after opening, we invested in new Bradbury/GEMCO tyre changing and wheel balancing equipment, allowing us to handle wheels up to 23 inches.
Now, in 2019, we're making another significant investment in the workshop.
The principle behind both decisions is the same.
Our equipment needs to suit the vehicles our customers actually drive.
Ponteland and the surrounding area has a diverse vehicle population, including a significant number of larger SUVs and 4x4s. If we're going to properly serve those motorists, our workshop needs the facilities to do so safely.
MOT testing in Ponteland
Once installation is complete, our new MOT lift will give Meadowfield greater flexibility over the range of vehicles we can accommodate for MOT testing and other workshop work.
It's another step in the development of Meadowfield Auto Centre as an independent garage and MOT testing station in Ponteland, Northumberland.
The workshop might look like a building site at the moment.
But underneath all that concrete and rubble is another investment in Meadowfield's future.
Bigger vehicles. Better facilities. Same local garage.
