Meadowfield Auto Centre Named Top Garage Awards 2026 Finalist
Meadowfield Auto Centre has secured another major national industry accolade after being named a finalist in the Top Garage Awards 2026.
The Ponteland independent garage is one of just ten businesses nationwide to reach the final of the 4–6 Employees category, with the final taking place at Delphi Academy in Warwick on 14 November.
The announcement continues an exceptional year for Meadowfield Auto Centre, which has already been named Runner-up for Best Single Site Garage at the Automechanika Garage of the Year Awards 2026 and a finalist for Garage of the Year – Best Single Site at the Motor Trader Industry Awards 2026.
But Top Garage brings a different type of recognition.
The competition takes garages through a series of stages designed to test their knowledge, processes, business practices and approach to running a modern independent workshop, before culminating in a face-to-face final.
For Meadowfield, reaching that final provides another perspective on the standards that have been developed within the business – looking beyond what customers see from the outside and further into how the garage operates, how decisions are made and how the team continues to develop and improve.
National Recognition for a Ponteland Independent
Meadowfield Auto Centre was established under its current ownership in December 2016, when owner Stephen Browne took over the business where he had first gained experience in the motor trade.
Almost ten years later, the business has grown into one of the country's nationally recognised independent garages, while remaining firmly rooted in Ponteland.
Investment in technician training, diagnostic capability, workshop equipment and technology has been accompanied by a continual focus on customer service and the systems behind the business.
Stephen said:
"This one means a lot to us because Top Garage looks at the business from a slightly different angle.
We've been incredibly fortunate to receive recognition from several major industry awards, and each one looks at excellence in its own way. Top Garage tests different parts of what we do and gives us another opportunity to demonstrate the standards we've worked hard to build at Meadowfield.
For a five-person independent garage in Ponteland to be standing alongside some of the best businesses in the industry at national finals is something I'm immensely proud of.
We're always looking at what we can improve next, but when different organisations, judging in different ways, continue to recognise what we're doing, it gives you confidence that you're heading in the right direction.
And to be doing that as we approach ten years of Meadowfield makes it even more special."
A Decade of Continual Improvement
The Top Garage announcement comes just two months before Meadowfield Auto Centre celebrates ten years under Stephen's ownership on 16 December 2026.
During that time, the business has accumulated a growing list of national and regional industry recognition, including three Servicesure awards and recognition, previous Top Garage and IGA BIG Awards finalist positions, alongside its achievements in 2026.
Despite that growth and recognition, Meadowfield remains a small independent garage with a simple philosophy: keep raising standards, year after year.
The latest finalist position is another indication of how far that philosophy has taken the business.
Meadowfield Auto Centre will now travel to Warwick for the Top Garage Awards final on 14 November, competing alongside nine other independent garages in its category.
