Meadowfield Does the Ponteland Duck Race 2017!
Getting involved with one of Ponteland's favourite community events as Meadowfield Auto Centre takes part in the 2017 Ponteland Duck Race.
It's been a busy first year for Meadowfield Auto Centre in Ponteland, but we couldn't let one of the village's best-known community events pass us by.
So, Meadowfield is doing the 2017 Ponteland Duck Race!
Organised by the Rotary Club of Ponteland, the annual Duck Race brings families, local businesses and the wider Ponteland community together in Ponteland Park, with hundreds of ducks taking to the River Pont and helping to raise money for good causes.
For a newly established local business, it seemed like the perfect event to get involved with.
Meadowfield Auto Centre in the Ponteland community
We opened the doors to Meadowfield Auto Centre on Meadowfield Industrial Estate at the beginning of January 2017, providing MOT testing, car servicing and vehicle repairs in Ponteland.
Eight months later, we're really beginning to feel at home.
We're an independent garage, but we're also a Ponteland business, and being part of the community around us is something that's important to us.
The Ponteland Duck Race is exactly the sort of local event that makes the village what it is. It brings together residents, families, charities and businesses for an afternoon that's considerably less serious than our normal working day in the garage.
Although, being Meadowfield, we'll still be hoping for a competitive performance from our duck.
From MOTs to ducks
Most days you'll find us at the garage carrying out MOT tests, servicing and repairs and looking after vehicles for customers from Ponteland and the surrounding area.
This weekend we're swapping cars for ducks.
The 2017 Ponteland Duck Race takes place in Ponteland Park on Sunday 3 September, with an afternoon of races, children's activities and entertainment organised by Ponteland Rotary Club.
It's one of the major fundraising events organised by the Rotary Club and a great opportunity for the local community to come together while supporting good causes.
We're pleased that Meadowfield Auto Centre can be a small part of it in our very first year.
Whatever happens in the race, we'll be cheering Meadowfield on from the riverbank.
Come on, Meadowfield! 🦆
